Emer is a Web Developer, UX Designer and Owner of Ki Business & Tech. She started the route to self-employment in 2006, walking out of a manager role in HP to start her own business and it felt like she had to reinvent the wheel. A lot of business advice she was given was very good at making her busy but very little business. In 2012, she gave up and went back to IT until 2016- IT wasn't open to remote working in 2016, even after she worked very successfully from home for 8 months after achilles surgery, it was a HR policy, they wanted her back in the office and she just wasn't prepared to go back driving 1000kms per week to go to an office to work with the US and Asia. Her background was in corporate IT systems and coding, so she started web development (easiest as a freelancer) and it nearly killed her because people didn't get what being online for a business really meant. She was so grateful for the pandemic on this, to shove businesses online because with AI and crypto on the horizon, it became necessary to get online savvy at a much greater scale to expand into the future. Her passion is UX, which is all about human emotions, interactions, business goals and decision pathways. She just loves it! Now, she applies her years of knowledge on software development and design to how she does business development, plus UX on top, rather than endless business advice that really wasn't getting her anywhere. She has amazing clients and isn’t chasing her tail anymore. This approach cuts through the noise and lends to ethical business online and human connection in a digital world.
