Deirdre McCarron is a HR professional with over a decade of experience across all platforms of the HR function. She has notable experience in training, development and recruitment. Her role developed and expanded in Retail HR but she also has experience in a home care setting. As a trainer, she has created, developed and delivered training plans. Her main focus has been the induction training of new recruits, priding herself on identifying future key staff members from the very start of their journey. As a recruiter, she has organised and managed mass recruitment events both in-house and externally. Identifying potential gaps in a company’s headcount, she prepares and acts in advance. When it comes to developing employees, Deirdre has been involved with QQI and Retail Ireland Skillnet and has availed of their courses to drive her own development as well as others. Recently, she qualified as a mentor for employees enrolled on the Apprenticeship in Retail Supervision with Retail Ireland. She is also an internal verifier for employees completing individual modules on their programmes. In addition, Deirdre has a wealth of knowledge across all other aspects of HR including Employment Law, Retention, Redundancy, Employee Relations, Timekeeping and Attendance, Long Term Absence...the list goes on. On a personal level, Deirdre practices a healthy lifestyle to promote good mental health. Deirdre is all about the balance and has a passion for well-being. She believes that she has married this personal belief to her professional role in HR. She prides herself on being an excellent listener, advisor and confidant, traits needed a people focused setting. For her, the person is the priority not the policy. She believes she is a better equipped manager by understanding an individual’s profile from the get go.
